Thrashers 2 vs Penguins 3

Alright, I hate to sound like a whiney fan, I try to talk about the televised games objectionalbly (or as objectionalbly as a fan can) but the Thrashers are having THE worst luck this season. Last nights game was one of the best they’ve played so far this season, they were on their game and set to beat the Penguins but a few bad calls and some shots that hit the posts instead of going in the net ruined it.

Slava Kozlov got the first goal of the game for Atlanta giving them the 1 – 0 lead in the first period, but Miroslov Satan tied it up at 10:57 with a tip-in.

During the second period Crosby scored a goal while falling backwards (show off) making it 2 -1 Penguins, and Jimmy Slater got a goal with a huge wrap-around tieing it up for the Thrashers.

The thrid period is where the Thrashers just played their collective guts out, if the game could’ve been decided on just playing that period Atlanta would’ve won, but games are decided on goals in all 3 periods and late in the thrid on a Power Play the Penguins took the 3 – 2 lead and winning the game with a goal by Petr Sykora.

There was a hit on Todd White late in the second or in the third period, Penguins defenseman Kris LeTang checked white head first into the boards, White tried twice to stand up on his own but had to be helped off the ice. I know of two suspensions because of hits like that, I wonder if LeTang will be.

From Thranshers Coach John Anderson:

It was a tough hit, he’s day-to-day right now.

Before I end this I just want to say that Ondrej Pavelec was outstanding in the net during the game, I was a little concerned when I saw that he was starting the game but after that 5 on 3 in the second periond my concern was gone. During that 1 minute 18 seconds Pavelec stopped goal after goal after goal, it seemed like the Penguins didn’t do anything but shoot the puck during that time, I think it was just something like 3 or 4 shot, but they were impressive stops.

Penguins Coach Michel Therrien:

We had a lot of chances, in the second period, we had a 5-on-3, but their goalie kept them in it. I thought the chances were there
