That’s the millions dollar question for Thrashers fans today, me personally I think they can. In case you didn’t know Kovalchuk missed all but 45 seconds of the game against Edmonton Thursday night and will be scratched tonight due to an “upper body injury” when they face Buffalo. They’ve faced the Sabers twice before this season and won. The first game ending in a Shootout and the second in overtime, but they had Kovy.

Without Kovy, they’ve proved they had the ability to win against Edmonton, my concern will be the mental aspect, will they consider themselves less of a team without him or will they rally together be the team they truly are; a winning team?

I think they will win or lose based on their collective mental state; Kovy is their captain and they’ve won games because he on the team but he’s not the end all be all of the team and I hope they realize that. With guys like Bryan Little, Slava Kozlov, Todd White and Zach Bogosian they have the ability to win against the best of teams.
