Wonder Woman 2009 Animated Movie

wonder-woman
DC has outdone themselves with their recent animated feature Wonder Woman; it’s a movie adaptation of the origin of their resident Amazonian Princess. This is DC’s fourth installment of their animated movie endeavor, the first three being Superman: Doomsday, Batman: Gotham Knight, and Justice League: A New Frontier. The two main characters are Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor (of course) who voice by Keri Russell and Nathan Fillion are, they both play their characters very well, and there are a couple of funny scenes involving Trevor and the Magic Lasso of Truth.

Apart from Justice League comics and the old television series I don’t know that much about Wonder Woman in the comic book industry, all I know is she’s an Amazon and she can kick just about anybody’s butt. This movie starts with how Princess Diana (Wonder Woman) came to get her powers. Usually when a movie starts with an origin story, that’s pretty much all you get or it’s so crammed with story that there’s a lot of information left out. That’s not the case here; it’s the perfect balance of origin story and seeing the heroine in real action against a real villain.

And the villain here is none other than Aries (yeah, the God of War) himself, who is wreaking havoc on the world and Wonder Woman has to stop him, and stop him she does. The film isn’t for small children there is a fair amount of blood and couple more than moderately violent scenes, so if you’re a Father or Mother and you want to share a part of your childhood with your kids make sure you watch it alone first just to make sure they can handle it.

The film is one of the best cartoon films I’ve seen since Frontier and I plan on watching it again soon. The next animated film from DC will be Green Lantern.
