Paul Scene Demos

When I think of the term “singer/songwriter” I think of a certain genre of music, a certain style of music, and a certain type of musician. Not all singer/songwriters are the same mind you but most of them are. When I look at photographs of Paul Scene I get the impression that he’s similar to all of the other singer songwriters out there. But I was wrong, Paul’s music is very intense and a little dark, and it was a pleasant surprise.

In an email Paul described his music as “emo-folk”; I guess that’s an accurate description. But when I think of emo I think a lot of whining about broken hearts. There’s one track that depicts a broken heart in the lyrics but it wasn’t whiney, it was actually very good. But if by “emo” you think emotions then yeah, it’s definitely emotional. His lyrics illustrate a maturity of heart and a willingness to take chances with his music is evident.

The album of demos I listened to was very good, the sentiment of each track came shining through and he writes good songs that everyone of every age and culture can relate to. I think Paul Scene will be a very popular musician one day. From what I’ve seen on the internet he already has a pretty big audience and a loyal following.
