Patrick Downey, Paul Scene…And The Devil Makes Three

…And The Devil Makes Three isn’t a typical duet album, it’s a split album, like two EP’s by two different artists but on the same CD, this must be something new that’s come up because it’s the second time I’ve heard about two musicians doing this. It’s pretty smart actually, the fans get a full length album and the musicians get to combine their resources to put out their music. The only drawback would be if you only liked one of the artists.
But that’s not why we’re here, the album is pretty good. It’s all totally acoustic which makes it more raw and emotional, whenever you have someone with just their guitar you get a way better sense of what is going through their head than when they have three or four more people with more instruments to clog up what the writer wants to get across. And The Devil Makes Three gives us two different perspectives on some similar situations we all go through during our lifetime.
Separately or together I would recommend both of these guys, the two halves of the album fit perfectly together. They’re not out to change the world (at least I don’t think so) but they are out to make some good music and move us to some kind of emotional influence, for me it’s worked, I think these guys and the album are great.
