Shooter Jennings – Put the O Back in Country

I credit Shooter Jennings for getting me into country, I mean I’ve always listened to Cash, Waylon, Hank and few others but it never occurred to me that there were country music artists that were not quite as good but well on their way. Shooter Jennings was one of those artists, or so I thought but more on that at a later date.
Shooter Jennings was a name I was familiar with but never really thought about other than he was the son of Waylon Jennings. So one day after Electric Rodeo was released (more on that at a later date) I ventured over to his website and listened to his music, I was instantly hooked, the lyrics were pure outlaw country, Shooter and the .357’s had delivered to me something that had been missing from my musical experiences up until then, I went out and bought both of his albums.
Put the O is a good album, there are some songs that I thought lacked a little in the lyrics department but I figured that was due to the fact that it was his first album. But there were also some gems on the album as well. Sweet Savannah is a love song that will be on my favorites list for a very long time, 4th of July is an amazing track that has road song written all over it. Whenever I hear I just want to hop in the car with my wife up tight against me and ride around with the CD playing. Daddy’s Farm is hit or miss, it starts off tough and has outlaw all over it but some of the lyrics are a little cheesy.
Put the O Back in Country will always have a spot on the CD shelf for as long as I remain on this earth, when the CD doesn’t work anymore I but a new one. It’s not out to change anything but it just wants to be heard and felt.
